We look forward to another outstanding year at Selma Middle School this year to follow up on last year’s successes. Once again, we sent a strong 8th grade class to Wapahani High School where it will have an immediate impact, I’m sure. Our athletic teams continued a Selma tradition of success in all grade levels in all seasons. Our academic teams continued the tradition of stellar performances in the state academic competition. Our clubs both in and outside of school continue to grow and offer diverse experiences for our students. This past year also saw our community say goodbye to long time staff members David Reece, Tish Maurer, and Leeann Barnard who combined for over 50 years of teaching experience.

The new year at Selma Middle School brings new opportunities and challenges. We continue to offer a challenging, standards based education as we transition from a focus on ISTEP and its preparation to a focus on NWEA (and how it may affect our curriculum. Selma Middle School will be welcoming Mrs. Chris Ashmore-Good as she comes from Wapahani to teach our 8th grade science class; Mr. Kendall Arnett will be taking the place of Tish Maurer in 8th grade math; Mrs. Chris Reynolds will be teaching 8th grade social studies in place of Leeann Barnard. Be assured, that Selma Middle School will continue to strive to keep its “atmosphere” as positive as ever while promoting respectful, responsible, and resourceful students. We hope to accomplish all this while enjoying a brand new heating and cooling system!
